Two of the country’s leading insurance-related bodies have criticised companies for selling no claims bonus certificates.
The Insurance Fraud Bureau and the Association of British Insurers say foolhardy motorists caught driving with fake documents could put the acquisition of any future motor insurance cover in jeopardy
Certificates ‘valid with hundreds of insurers for 18 years’ are even being offered on one website.
An ABI spokesman said: “We would urge consumers to avoid sites like this. Evidence of no claims bonuses should come from an insurer, not from a website like this.”
IFB director Glen Marr said: “The existence of websites offering to allegedly produce no claims bonus entitlement documents for a fee are known to the IFB.
“We have been alerted to the existence of such both from within and outside the insurance industry.”
