The Motor Accident Solicitors Society has responded to the ministers statement on the government’s proposals for reform of Civil Litigation Funding and Costs in England & Wales.
Donna Scully, Mass chairman, said: “We are very disappointed that the government has clearly disregarded the legal needs of the 675 000 people every year who suffer harm from a road traffic accident. We know that the MOJ has received a vast number of very comprehensive responses questioning the practicality and consequences of their original proposals, and it beggars belief that they have had the time to give them full consideration before making today’s statement.
“There are a number of questions about the government’s own processes that need to be asked, as well as the most important question of all: do they not realise the damage this will do to ordinary people’s access to justice?”
