Supporters of a charity for road crash victims heard about the Government’s plans for CFAs when APIL took part in its open day last week.
APIL member Laura Middleton-Guerard addressed delegates at the RoadPeace AGM with an account of how injury victims will have to pay some legal costs from their damages if the justice Bill succeeds.
Laura also explained that lawyers will be less able to offer CFAs in complex cases and provided real examples of claimants who would be likely to lose out under the reforms.
Members of the audience were encouraged write to their local MP, in light of the information they had heard from Laura, to protest the proposals from the injured person’s perspective.
