APIL CEO moves to take up new challenge

Denise Kitchener, APIL chief executive, will leave the organisation to take on a fresh challenge in the summer.

She was the first member of staff appointed by APIL’s founder members and now leads a team of 28 people based at the association’s headquarters.

“It has been an honour and a privilege for me to help build this important association. I have had the pleasure of working with many passionate and committed practitioners, so this decision has not been an easy one. But, at this stage of my career, I need a different personal test and challenge,” she said.

Denise, who has been with the association for over 18 years, is taking up a new post as Director of Business Development at claimant law firm Pattinson and Brewer.

“‘Challenge’ is a very familiar word to our members – they and APIL have, and will continue to face them head-on. During my long relationship with this association my personal commitment to the rights of injured people has increased and strengthened year on year, and I am delighted to be moving to an organisation which wholly shares this commitment and where I can continue to tackle these challenges, from a different perspective.”

“I am looking forward to continuing to work with the many colleagues I have met and friends made during my time here. My support of APIL and all it does will be just as strong!”

The APIL officers have already embarked on the process of finding a replacement for Denise, who leaves in June, and they intend to instruct an external agency to assist with the search, to ensure an open and fair process.
